Our bodies were designed to move, but workers often spend most of their day in one position, using the same equipment. Quite often the worker adopts a poor posture. That is why there are so many physios out there.
What can we do? Research and experience tells us that we can minimise the strain on workers bodies. It is so important to get the work station set up correctly, but even that is not enough. Workers need to be aware of how to adopt good postures and self monitor. Remedial exercise and stretching combined with an active lifestyle is the key to avoiding pain.
At Work Wellness Australia we assess work stations to see if they are correct for each worker, then teach workers how to monitor themselves so that they use the equipment correctly.
